Billee Mills has been playing the double bass since the age of seven. She believes that sharing and learning the language of music is a valuable form of self-expression, whether it be in concert or in the classroom. Billee’s passion for the double bass has greatly contributed to her participation in multiple Australian Youth Orchestra programs, including National Music Camps and Young Symphonists, along with her eight-year membership with the Queensland Youth Orchestras. These experiences, along with her tertiary study, have rewarded Billee with significant opportunities that have shaped her musical career. These include performing in a masterclass for Edicson Ruiz of the Berlin Philharmonic, learning from and playing with double bass tutor of the Australian National Academy of Music, Damien Eckersley, and learning from the eminent Australian bassist and conductor, Max McBride. Billee is currently studying at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University under the tutelage of Dušan Walkowicz and Marian Heckenberg to attain her Bachelor of Music degree.
