_______________________________________________________________________
Currently studying under the tutelage of Professor Patricia Pollett, Helena Burns is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree at the University of Queensland and has just commenced her third year of study. Helena has studied the violin and viola since she was seven years old and has participated in Young Conservatorium ensembles, community orchestras, Griffith Conservatorium’s State Honours Ensemble Program, Creative Generation and MOST Instrumental Camp throughout her years at high school. She is also currently a member of the UQ Symphony Orchestra and the UQ Pulse Chamber Orchestra.
In 2017, Helena was lucky enough to tour the United States with the Brisbane Regional Youth Orchestra and gave performances with the group in Los Angeles schools, Central Park and Carnegie Hall. She attended the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) National Music Camp in January 2019 and again 2020, where she led the Curro Chamber Orchestra viola section in some of the greatest chamber orchestra repertoire ever composed. She will also travel to Bendigo, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney to participate in the AYO Autumn and Winter Seasons as well as the AYO Chamber Players Program in 2020.
With her passion for music and organised approach to practice, Helena hopes to share the beauty of music with her students and help them reach their full musical potential.
