Isabella Geeves
Trumpet
________________________________________________________________
Isabella Geeves was discovered at age 9 by Music Director and QYO Wind Ensemble Conductor David Law. From that point on her love and talent continued to develop and was topped off with an opportunity to meet James Morrison during a festival in 2013. Isabella has been accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, to study a Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Trumpet and has recently accepted a position in QYO’s Wind Symphony.
With almost 9 years of formal trumpet study and a series of public performances locally and internationally, Isabella’s journey is just beginning. She has travelled to Scotland to participate in the National Youth Wind Ensemble of Scotland at the Royal Conservatoire of Music, Glasgow in 2019 and also played in the Pacific Honours Ensemble Program at the Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, USA. Isabella performed at the Mt Gravatt show in 2019 and excelled in the Young Achievers music award. She has since been invited to play in the Lord Mayor's 2020 concert series held at Brisbane City hall.
Isabella has been involved in numerous ensembles, including the Young Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra (on scholarship) and Wind Orchestra (2019), Brisbane Sings at QPAC as lead trumpet (2018, 2019) and Sunnybank Brass, winning the Yamaha National Marching Band Championships (2019). She had the honour of playing the Last Post for Anzac services at Mansfield Primary, Mansfield High, Wishart Rotary Club and Greenleaves Retirement village over the past 2 years, and regularly visits Greenleaves Retirement Village to entertain our community's elderly and war veterans.
Isabella’s love for trumpet spills out in her dedication to share her passion with others and empower young musicians to reach their full potential.
